This week pro-surfer Felicity Parmentier visited MRPS to inspire students with stories of her personal experience in making it into the top 19 women surfers in the world. Felicity (or Floss) is our local surfing legend Josh Parmentier’s cousin and she is a great role model, explaining how she had to stay focused and keep fit and healthy to be at her peak for competitions. She also encouraged students to follow their dreams and to persevere at whatever it was – as she has to pick herself up and dust herself off whenever she loses a comp, then go out there again and do her best.
Mark Lane from WA Surfing accompanied Felicity and both surfers encouraged students to go online to the Drug Aware website, sponsors of the big comp on in town. Students were wrapped to get an inside chat with one of the pro surfers. Thanks to Mr Gibbon for organising the event.
