Pre-Primary Engineers At Work 1

“Water! Water! Over Here!” voices called, as a group of pre-primary students worked collaboratively to design and build their ‘water park’ in the sandpit today. Perfect for the hot weather which arrived with a flourish this week in Margaret River!

Pre-Primary Engineers At Work 2

Watching these students work collaboratively to develop their design and fill the sandy waterways with fresh water by hand showed the value of teamwork – as they smiled and played, and built and developed water baths and watercourses, someone quickly jumping up just in time to pump the handle until cool clear water flowed down the chute again.

Our pre-primary students are very fortunate to have this engineering set-up, cleverly designed years ago when the nature playground was installed by then expert-designer Bernhard Kaiser. It encourages problem-solving and design thinking (even at that age) – and it certainly looked like FUN.

You can read more about the original installation in 2013 here.
