Margaret River Primary School Kitchen Garden Program has been inspired by Stephanie Alexander and has been going for ten years! Every time we walk past the kitchen we can smell amazing smells! All the fresh produce grown in our own garden by Terri and the Year 4 and 5 students is being used to make delicious healthy meals. We get to grow, cook and eat!
So far this year we have made mouth-watering pizzas. We can’t even find the words to describe how good they were. This was followed by a delicious bruschetta and then a beautiful seasonal garden salad.
All of the meals have been a great success so far and we hope it will be the same in the future. We have been begging our mums to make the exact same thing at home.
We love the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program. It is really, and we mean really, awesome! Cooking and gardening are so important in our lives and we are lucky to be learning great skills for both the garden and kitchen, like how to cut with sharp knives safely. We think we are just about the luckiest kids on Earth to be able to be a part of it.
We cannot wait for our next cooking session…we wonder what is on the menu next week!
