Farewell from Mr K.

Dear Parents/Caregivers,

I am writing to inform the school community that as of Week 3 next term I will be leaving Margaret River Primary School. On Monday I was informed I was the recommended applicant as Principal of Vasse Primary School. Their Principal has recently retired.

The decision to apply and accept the position was extremely difficult as Margaret River Primary is an outstanding school with an amazing collection of teaching, non-teaching and front office staff. It is over the past six years where I have grown the most professionally and personally.

I have been extremely privileged to have tremendous support from many parents including current and past members of the School Council/Board and P & C. I have never worked in a school where the support from parents and the community has been so strong and reliable.

The decision to leave has been complicated even more so because of the fantastic students of Margaret River Primary School. I have taught in the Pilbara, Goldfields, Metropolitan and Busselton schools and I can truly say the students at Margaret River Primary School are by far the best students I have encountered.

So why leave? I have lived in Busselton for 15 years and opportunities like this, to be closer to my family, do not arise often. I am always one looking for a challenge and I believe Vasse can offer that as it is undergoing similar growth to Margaret River with just over 600 students. I leave Margaret River Primary knowing it is operating very well with solid, sustainable practices in place.

Mr Craig Mainard will be Acting Principal during the period of selection for the new principal. Our School Board Chairperson Ely Jarvis will play a very active role in selecting the new Principal.

Once again thank you all for a most satisfying and memorable past six years. I will always have Margaret River Primary and the community etched in my heart forever.
