Everyone has a special story to tell about someone they know or someone they look up to with the Anzac spirit. My students were full of stories about their dads, grandads and great-grandfathers who fought in different wars for the Australia in which we live today. This spirit and awareness was evident in the respect shown by all our students this morning at our special Anzac Day Ceremony. Scouts lowered the flags to half-mast. Students filed forward after the minute’s silence to lay wreaths at the base of the flagpoles. Student councillors spoke movingly of how we remember our soldiers. Our wonderful choir’s singing tugged at our hearts and our invited guest speaker, Keith Simmons (President of the RSL) , appealed directly to our students to show the Anzac spirit in everyday school life. We thank Mr. Madden and all of those involved in organising this ceremony and especially, we thank all students for the respect they showed. Lest We Forget!
