Those of you who’ve visited the West Activity Area in the last few days probably thought you were in another school. It has been transformed! Gone are the old bulky desks which have been replaced with bright funky furniture arranged in inviting collaborative groupings.
Kerry Goodreid initiated the makeover last June after seeing the extensive use the area experienced with educational assistants working with students one-on-one and in small groups, all trying to find a spot conducive to learning, as well as Mini-Lit sessions run by Pauline. The new furniture is bright and colourful and the curved desks are more versatile, providing the flexibility to reconfigure the learning spaces as needed.
Kerry wanted to say thank you to
all the EA’s who helped in the clean up of West activity at the start of this term, to Greg, Karen, Sinan and Craig for helping in the set up, but most of all to Pauline Stevens who has helped me with furniture choice, colours and of course all the set up.
They have done a great job and I’m sure the Year 1/2 students who use the area will really appreciate her efforts.
