Kitchen Garden News From T10 9Garden report

Last garden session the Cool Carrots moved our tadpoles to their new home. They hoped for the best and used nets to try and scoop them out of a box because they were getting too big for the box.

We also have a bathtub full of fish in the centre of the garden. They look very happy. The frog pond is starting to get a bit crowded as all the tadpoles are nearly big enough to be frogs!

At the moment we are growing cucumber, lettuce, beetroot, capsicums, beans, peas and figs. We need to grow a lot of lettuce to use for cooking.

Feedback from students was:

Sidney E. said:  ” I like garden because you get to help nature.’’

Lilly L. said:  “I like garden because you get to go outdoors.’’

When our group were stretching out the pastry we panicked because as we stretched it right out, it shrank back in! This is because the gluten acts like an elastic band so when you stretch it out – of course it springs back in! Luckily there was a spare pastry so we could still make our torte!

Charlie.L said: I liked to harvest and tear the lettuce from the MRPS kitchen garden.

Sidney.E said:  I liked the torte because it was salty.
