On Friday 13 April we held our school ANZAC Day Ceremony in the undercover area to show our respect and commemorate this significant day which was during the school holidays on April 25.
Mr Thomas led the ceremony, with the support of our school councillors and it was a very thoughtful and reflective atmosphere as those present moved through the accustomed sequence of wreath laying and remembrance, the lowering of the flags and the powerful one minute’s silence – punctuated by the haunting notes of The Last Post and the Reveille.
Mr. Keith Simmonds from the RSL was our invited speaker for the ceremony. He spoke from the heart and gave a moving address where he reinforced the message of honouring the memory of all those who have given their lives on the battlefield, from the early days of Anzac Cove through to current fields of conflict, so that we may continue to enjoy the freedom we have in Australia.
Mr Thomas concluded the ceremony with the Ode, prompting students with their response – which is the very reason why we continue to hold Anzac Day Ceremonies every year – Lest We Forget!
