School Library
MRPS Library is a welcoming and stimulating environment full of colour, comfy seating and every kind of book. Library Officer, Lee Hughes, says:
“The library is for the students and we want to encourage students to relax, enjoy books and feel comfortable here. If they can see the Library as a positive space, this will be good for their learning.”
Nothing stays static for long in here with constant rotating book displays, interactive displays and competitions to whet readers’ interest like: “Who’s been caught out reading?”
Library resources can be searched from anywhere through an online library search engine called Destiny. While the focus is on fiction books, the library has implemented a more user-friendly catalogue system for non-fiction texts. Instead of Dewey numbers, books are organised under subjects using the BISAC system.
Parent EQ Resources
In our MRPS Library everybody is catered for. Parents, can borrow from our extensive collection of EQ (Emotional Intelligence) resources gathered specifically for parents to better understand issues that may be affecting their children either at home or in the school environment. The books focus on areas such as anxiety, self esteem, building positive thinking, managing prepubescent girls, raising boys and social networking. Parents can borrow these books from the School Library, under their child’s name.
