Writers' Circle Welcomes Miriam Wei Wei Lo 7

Writer’s Circle started its second season in Week 5 this term, where aspirant writers from Years 3 to 6 gather to share creative ideas and build their skills in writing.  Students excitedly received their welcome packs outlining the goals and writing genre for this season, together with their Writer’s Notebooks to collect snippets of songs and conversations, fragments of imagination, lists of favourite places, people and things – all of which will act as writing prompts to dip into and use over time.

Exciting news this year is that published poet, Miriam Wei Wei Lo, has joined our ranks, working alongside Mrs Veary every fortnight to share her writing insights and special skills at Writer’s Circle.  Miriam shared her passion for poetry in her first session as students prepared to write a List Poem, performing a couple of poems to bring to life their rhythm and rhyme.

Miriam is also a mum to Year 6 student Ben, is involved with our P&C and she has recently written and published a children’s picture book, illustrated by her daughter Emily-Rose, called “Bree’s Forest AdventureWriters' Circle Welcomes Miriam Wei Wei Lo 8

You can read more about Miriam as well as her new book (which is set locally in Boranup Forest) by visiting the Margaret River Press Website.  Click here MRPress WEBSITE. or Miriam’s own website MIRIAM

We look forward to Miriam’s collaboration and her input as a published writer, performer of poetry and past winner of the Western Australian Premier’s Prize for Poetry.
