Last Friday Room 6 students had an exciting morning constructing their Spacecraft designs from recycled materials. Our room was transformed into a high performance construction zone with some incredible results! Students had to meet criteria such as: aerodynamic shape; provide the power to break through Earth’s atmosphere; surface to be able to survive friction heat for re-entry and of course, all to be built using recycled materials. We had some very creative interpretations of satellites, UFOs, space shuttles and rockets and through the design process and reflecting afterwards, students certainly developed a better understanding of this aspect of their Spinning in Space inquiry!
A huge thank you to all the dads and mums who came along to work with students. Your support and energy definitely helped every student to aim for the skies and take some risks with their designs. 🙂
