Room 5 students are learning all about cooking with local ingredients in our Kitchen Garden kitchen. They cooked up a storm during Reconciliation Week, cooking damper and a reconciliation salad with kangaroo steak.
Visiting the kitchen I noticed unusual bush tucker ingredients and students showed me the bush limes – so small but with the definite tste of lime and the same tartness of that citrus family.
Alex B. and Jack K. (Room 5) said they had ‘cooked damper and salad with kangaroo in it.” When asked how they’d cooked the kangaroo and they said they’d “..seared it. It was really tender and quite nice.”
It certainly looks like it! 😉
