On Friday we had our formal BER opening ceremony. The school assembled and invited guests included the Hon. Terry Redman MLA and his wife, representatives from the Shire, the Department of Education, the building company and our school council. Mr Kerimofski read a letter from Senator Chris Evans, wishing us good use of our new facilities to further our educational objectives. Mr K then delivered an address congratulating staff and students on their flexibility during the building works and relocating no less than thirteen classrooms at the end of 2010. He then presented Louise Mann (Chair of the MRPS School Community Council) with a commemorative plaque, which will be erected on a wall in the new building. Ms Mann then spoke, praising the staff, students and school community for their shared vision, hard work and ‘can do’ approach to challenges, which have resulted in the smooth transition to ‘school as usual’ in the new buildings.
Ms Helen and the choir held their audience transfixed during their three musical numbers, which had very moving lyrics and some haunting melodies. Well done to our magnificent singers and to Ms Helen for her enthusiastic leadership. And well done to all our students for their outstanding attention and behaviour during the ceremony. You were a credit to our school!
If you enjoyed the music, you can listen again to “You Raise me Up”, sung by Brittany Hartnett and the choir as well as an extract of “Imagine”, by clicking on the MP3 arrows below.
Well done choir and Miss Helen!
