“Voting is the first duty of democracy“, said Lyndon B. Johnson
In the first few weeks of this term, our Year Fives and Sixes demonstrated their understanding of the democratic process in the elections held for our 2024 school leaders.
Students had to nominate their intention to run for a leadership position, write a persuasive speech, create and display personal election posters and then…..drumroll….stand up and present their speech to the full complement of Year 5 and Year 6 students who then completed their secret ballot papers – and the votes were counted. Whew! All aspirants agreed that it was a very demanding process and they had grown through participating in it.
